My new FAV song

SEASONS OF LOVE - Rent Soundtrack

525,600 minutes, 525,000 moments so dear

525,600 minutes how do you measure - Measure a year

In daylights, in sunsets, in midnights, in cups of coffee

In inches, in miles, in laughter, in strife

In 525,600 minutes - how do you measure a year in the life

How about love - How about love - How about love

Measure in love

Seasons of love

525,600 minutes, 525,000 journeys to plan

525,600 minutes how can you measure the life of a woman or man

In truths that she learned, or in times that he cried

In bridges he burned, or the way that she died

It's time now to sing out, though the story never ends

Let's celebrate remember a year in the life of friends

Remember the love - Remember the love - Remember the love

Measure in love - Seasons of love - Seasons of love

-------------

Ironicly this song has been on my mp3 player for a while & I just love it. Paul and I were talking about our playlists this weekend and this one was both of our favorite for running. Awwww : )

Anyway, IM training is really a year long process. From sign up a year out to the actual event a whole year passes so I started thinking about my year of IM this year.

First I decided to go back to Louisville, I just loved the race, the place & couldn't resist! This race & training will be very different b/c Paul is not racing w/ me, but I started out thinking I would really push the training hard this year & try to make a big difference in my times from last year. Well, I guess the universe had other plans for me!

I decided I wanted to race for Garrett and Garrett's Wings to try to help Renee and Scott bring about some change and help after Garrett passed away in December. Through that I have loved getting reconnected with wonderful old friends. I have found that I have been able to teach my daughter a great lesson in giving. She has grown and learned so much about helping and giving to others.

After a bout of mono in Feb., March & some of April my dreams of a super fast time in Louisville are gone. I have had moments of panic that my mileage is not up to what it needs to be to get the job done in August. That's when I listen to my song & realize that this year is about so much more than the mileage & time. It's all about rediscovering a wonderful old (I mean that in the good way - I swear!) friend, and teaching my kids about love and life. Crossing the finish line in August I'm not sure it will matter what the clock reads, I have gained so much in the last few months - I wouldn't trade it for all the Kona qualifying slots in the world!!
